HanseMerkur is celebrating 20 years of collaboration with the long-established Hamburg companies DAK-Gesundheit, Fielmann, and Haspa. This long-standing partnership not only underscores Hamburg's economic appeal but also creates sustainable added value for customers and policyholders through synergy effects. Together, the four companies employ around 40,000 people, thus making a significant contribution to strengthening the region's economy.
Johannes Ganser, HanseMerkur board member responsible for cooperation business, emphasizes the importance of these partnerships: “The collaboration with our three partners is a prime example of successful location policy. For two decades, we have cultivated these relationships with great commitment, and together we achieve sustainable success. These collaborations have enabled us to develop innovative embedded insurance solutions that always put customer benefits first.”
Cooperation with DAK-Gesundheit: Innovation in supplementary health insurance
The collaboration between HanseMerkur and DAK-Gesundheit began in 2004 with supplemental health insurance. Among the standout products are the "PlusSehen" (Plus Vision) plan and "PlusFamilie" (Plus Family), which transfers the principle of statutory health insurance to private insurance: A family pays a fixed premium, regardless of the number of insured members. DAK policyholders now have 23 supplemental insurance plans to choose from, and over 1.3 million customers rely on the protection offered by this partnership. Dr. Ute Wiedemann, a member of the board of DAK-Gesundheit, emphasizes: "Our collaboration is characterized by a spirit of innovation and trust – the key to a successful connection between statutory and private health insurance."
Embedded Insurance: A successful model with Fielmann
The cooperation with Fielmann began in 2004 with the introduction of a glasses insurance policy. Customers were given the option of taking out insurance directly when purchasing glasses, covering pairs from the zero-cost collection and additional benefits such as coverage for changes in vision or damage. Today, there are over nine million active policies. Steffen Bätjer, CFO of the Fielmann Group, explains: "This success is based on our customer-oriented philosophy, which has formed the foundation of this cooperation for 20 years."
HanseMerkur and Haspa: Working together for Hamburg
The partnership with Hamburger Sparkasse (Haspa) unites two long-established companies with shared values. Both institutions are committed to providing financial security for the people of Hamburg. "HanseMerkur inspires us with personalized products in the areas of health, travel, and corporate health insurance," says Dr. Olaf Oesterhelweg, Deputy Spokesperson of the Board of Haspa.
